Located in the Western Division of NSW, Alma Merinos breeds animals suited to the variable Australian conditions

First established in 1878, Alma is a broad acre grazing station located West of Booligal on the famous saltbush plains. Alma Merinos has been under the ownership of the Morphett family since 1960’s who have strived for over 60 years to produce highly productive, low maintenance merinos suited to the harsh conditions experienced in pastoral Australia.

Alma Merinos is committed to producing merinos with large frames, long wool staples and high fertility. Alma has kept the same breeding objectives for over 60 years, resulting in the creation of an iconic bloodline known for its repeatability and reliability. Genetics suited to their breeding goals are sourced from and Glenville Merino Stud (Poll Merinos) and Collinsville Merino Stud (Merino Sires), both located in South Australia.

Bred to Thrive

Ewes bred from Alma Genetics are highly sort after by first cross producers and merino producers. Alma wether lambs are know for their large body sizes, rapid maturation and wool growing abilities.

Bred to Survive

Alma Poll Merino and Merino Rams are born and bred on the Saltbush Plains. They are provided as little supplementary feed as possible to ensure they learn how to effectively graze the native pasture on offer. This means when they are put out into the paddock to work you can rely on them to have the condition and doing ability to get their ewes in lamb.
